I have been following Bellroy on Instagram for awhile. They are a unique company based out of Australia. They design and make leather wallets, phone cases, and small travel sleeves out of leather. What is immediately attractive about them is their design. Wallets are everywhere, there are hundreds if not thousands of wallet manufacturers. But Bellroy isn’t just making the average wallet. It is obvious that they spend a lot of time on the design of their wallets. From the smallest of pocket, to the color of thread, everything about their wallets has been thoroughly thought out and meticulously designed. One thing that stands out is how perfectly tanned and dyed their leather is. I realize that these days you can get all sorts of leather from all over the world in practically any color and texture you want, but Bellroy seems to have a uniqueness about the coloring and feel of their wallets.

Now that you have a good impression of how much of a fan boy I am, let me tell you a little about the wallet. My wife purchased this wallet for me. I showed it to her very shortly after Bellroy released it. The design was simple, the colors were attractive, and I needed it. By “need” I mean want. My wife surprised me with it as a Christmas gift, and what a perfect gift it was.

The thing about wallets, is that everyone uses them differently. Some people like to pack as much of their life into them. We all know those people who only go to Costco once a year, and yet they still keep the card in their wallet.

I am the type of person that I don’t leave my house without a few key items, and once those items are with me, I don’t set them down for anything. Once my wallet is in my pocket, it stays in my pocket unless I am using it of course. I have known people who once they get settled in their car or at their desk at work they take their wallet out and place it in a drawer. They do this so they don’t have to sit on their bulky wallet all day. I can’t do this. I am certain that if I ever try it, I will lose my wallet immediately. I will just forget it and walk away.

For this reason I was really attracted to the micro sleeve wallet from Bellroy. If it is going to stay in my pocket all day, it needs to be petite and yet very sturdy.

The micro sleeve wallet has one pocket and two sleeves. The two sleeves on the outside can hold two cards. The pocket can hold a combination of cards and cash. The unique design allows you to pinch at the corners to allow easy access to the pocket. The instructions card demonstrates this, and after trying it a couple times it becomes very intuitive. The instructions card also mentions that if you put more than two cards in either of the sleeves that the pocket will not open as easily to the pinch at the corners. I tested this and was quite surprised at how much a difference two to three cards made. This really goes to show the detailed craftsmanship they have in this wallet.

I keep five cards and a few bills in it. It is the perfect minimal wallet for my every day carry.

Overall I really like this wallet. Every time I pull it out, I get compliments from people on how cool and how minimal it is.
