Good design is now demanded by consumers. We not only want products that are functional and durable, but we want them to look trendy. Foray is a new design firm with a mission to design beautiful tools for people with physical limitations. Their first product is called Spring and it is a revolutionary design for something we are all familiar with, the walker.

We all know about the traditional walker that the elderly around us use. To be honest, the walkers are quite ugly. Today you can own a beautiful toaster, thermostat, and vacuum, but when it comes time for you to purchase a walker, you are limited to just a few designs. I almost didn’t want to post the pictures below because walkers just look terrible.

You don’t have to be Steve Job’s to realize that anything that you have to shove tennis balls onto is probably not the best design. The traditional walker is desperately in need of a redesign.

The walker that Foray has designed a new take on what a walker should look like and how it should perform. Foray has not only spent a lot of time making a walker that looks attractive, but they wanted it to be incredibly functional.

There are a lot of features packed into their design. A couple of the key features of the walker are the handle is easily adjustable for different heights and the wheels have a locking feature that is actuated when the seat is placed down. Foray has designed a walker that exceeds the requirements that would normally be considered for a walker. Oh and it looks great.

I really like the mission of Foray. I appreciate their desire to redesign a common product that is desperately in need of some good aesthetics. I can’t wait to see what else they may come up with.
