Cable management is always a problem. I just traveled to San Fransisco and one of my pockets inside my backpack was completely dedicated to all the cables I needed to take with me. I have so many power cables and charging cables for all of my devices; my iPhone charging cable, Apple Watch charging cable, Bluetooth headphones charging cable, and laptop power cord. Most of the time these cables are either on my nightstand or on my desk. The guys over at Jaywalk Studio sent me a great cable management product called the Gorilla Baby.

My first reaction when I heard the name was, “what on earth could that be?” But, the moment I held the block in my hand I immediately understood. It is a deceptively heavy block of wood. The Gorilla Baby is made of two different species of wood, sapele and maple. But neither of these two types of wood could make this 2 inch cube as heavy as it is. There is definitely some sort of metal at the core of the organizer. My guess is that it is steel. The significant weight of this block makes the product perfect for holding your cables in place. It is small, unobtrusive, and a fantastic accent to a desk or night stand. I personally like it on my nightstand because I hate how my iPhone power cable constantly keeps falling off the stand onto the floor. Inevitably, I am fishing around on the floor in the dark in a delirious fashion right before I fall asleep and need to plug my phone in. This clever little block keeps the cable perfectly in its place.

The other thing that caught my attention right away are the silicon feet of the Gorilla Baby. The description on Jaywalk’s website mentions that it has these pads to keep from scooting around your desk or from scratching something. But, even these pads have a unique design to them. I love that they went so far as to create a beautiful design on the feet of the organizer. Most design studios would have just thrown some sort of anti slip and aniscratching material on the bottom and moved on.

Overall I really like the Gorilla Baby to manage my cables. It is clean, beautiful, and highly effective.
