The iPhone 7 was the first phone I have ever pre-ordered. In the past I always had to wait till whenever my next phone upgrade was with my cellphone carrier, but this time around I happened to be up for an upgrade when the iPhone 7 released. I was very excited to pre-order and be one of the first to have such a beautiful phone. What I hadn’t considered before, since I had never pre-ordered, was there are virtually no cases available when your brand new shiny phone comes in. Now I really like how the iPhone looks and would much prefer to leave it without a case, but deep down I feel that is risky. I am worried that I may break my new phone. So I started searching for a new case. I waited a few weeks after the phones had officially started shipping, and slowly more and more case manufacturers started releasing cases that were compatible with the iPhone 7. After a fair amount of searching I ordered the Mujjo Tan Leather case.

I have seen quite a few different leather cases on the market. Including the ones sold by Apple, but I wanted to try something a bit different than those. I started searching around on Amazon, because who doesn’t like Amazon Prime. There were quite a few leather cases on their from obscure manufacturers around the world. I don’t remember exactly how I came across Mujjo, but their cases stood out to me as appearing clean and professional. I settled on the Mujjo case because they seamed like they had a solid history of making leather cases.

Their case isn’t entirely made from leather. Which makes sense if you have ever worked with leather. They have a plastic core that they then wrap the high-quality vegetable tanned leather around. The leather is then bonded to the plastic. At first I was a bit nervous about the leather pealing away from the plastic, but I have been using the case for over a month now and it seems very durable and has shown no signs of separating. I also now appreciate the plastic shell because it creates for the perfect fit. The case is very thin, lightweight, and snug around the phone. 

I intentionally chose the tan colored leather because I new that over time the leather would become darker with a patina. It has already started to do this along the edges and I am excited to see how it continues to age.

Overall I am really satisfied with this case. It has taken a beating really well and surprisingly hides scratches and marking really well. This one will probably be a long term review for me. I will come back in a few months and share how the case is doing then.
